ribbon series...

..the first proof of the ribbon series- a figurative bunch that may work as screenprints..no thinking in reverse(text)headache too..not that i mind too much here.Begining life as lino ideas then moving to etching & maybe now screenprinting...thats printmaking.

..post workshop..

The screenprinting workshop was terrific - a great 2 days with participants engaged in individual projects. I was amazed at how keen they were, all full of ideas & willing to give them a go.Wonderful.
My lines were too light & after i had exposed the image on the screen the image dissipated...As such they (the drawings) are now going onto etching plates as there is the surface quality to carry them.. BUT screenprint ideas occupy my mind now - such is printmaking..

..screenprinting workshop

Practice time..i have an introductory screenprinting workshop to tutor this sat & sun with Impress Printmakers Brisbane & need to brush up on my screenprinting skills so ive made these drawings to experiment with.. Initially i was thinking of doing backgrounds & these line drawings over the top...i know not very adventurous but ill try layering w exposed items too & maybe a stencil????????????
Some of these lines do not appear strong on the transparency so i dont know how it will look..

night whispers.. continued...sleeping/waking

These are the first proofs of prior 5 plates in the night whispers series/suite....now as much as i love the line it looks as though ill need to add tone & just a bit of variation on each of the etchings.. I prefer a lot of space in the picture & floating parts so i hope i can carefully add depth without catastrophe...nothing like burnishing off areas after parts of the plate become too dark...We shall see..

Dadang Christantos exquisite works..For the past 30 years Dadang Christanto has produced controversial work rooted deeply in the human experience. Originally from Tegal in Central Java, Indonesia, Christanto now lives in Brisbane where he continues to produce art with an unrelenting message of human suffering and the need for compassion...although the show has just finished you can view images online http://www.janmantonart.com/ARTISTS/DADANGCHRISTANTO/TheRivers2010/tabid/2024/Default.aspx ..sorry my links do not comply -copy & paste?

4 drawings for etchings

...these will be in the next few etchings once i get to them. I dont know but suddenly it feels like time is starting to get away..& theres a lot to do. I am still trying etching which i am relatively inexperienced in but i do love the line i can achieve on the plates so ill keep going...
