Limited edition prints; works on paper escapades

The Wind Up Bird ;Haruki Murakami
"Once again i am myself inside my own body"

A lifetime ago, i found time to read novels, long National Geographic articles about exotic & interesting places & people;anything really. It was never distracting from the everyday existence rather it enhanced it completely. I really love this falling into characters & spaces so it seems strange to not do it so easily now. For instance i have had "The Life & Opinions of Maf the Dog & of his Friend Marilyn Monroe" by Andrew OHagan (The paris Review-on-maf-the-dog ) by my bed for over 2 months& i know its a great book too.

As you can see i find it frustrating... and recently whilst looking through some journals i had noted various lines(beautiful sentences) that reasonated with me from all the novels that id read & thought as ideas for prints....As part of the process im making them into a 7 Day drawing project that may one day appear as prints. One day!

Making Books

It feels as though it has been a long & short week ..Easter celebrations & a lot of real home time which as it turns out was very relaxing. Moving on to ANZAC day  & something i observe within a distance & some puzzlement.  I attempted to make books, did several drawings & actually threw out a few old print mishaps that i was keeping to do something with. That made me a bit uneasy; i just don't like to waste the paper. I let it go only because i seem to have accumulated more than i need. I did find a few remnants that could be saved & turned into books so we shall see the results soon i hope.
I also received the catalogues from Hong Kong containing the biggest catalogues I've seen this year. This was an exhibition in which i collected all the Impress Printmakers Studio prints included in the Graphic Arts Festival Convergence/Divergence.The open-printshop has details in their newsletter

A few possibilities; i am thinking about screenprinting the text (regarding memory) onto the etchings & have been arranging a few things in photoshop. Lately i have been looking at type & text a lot more closely, enjoying the visual qualities i guess...talking about artists using tpe... Art21 has a guest blogger writing about  Glenn Ligon & his text based works which i found today as i looked at art21 for class ideas...i wish i had more time to read..
